It is a religious festival celebrated in the province of Paucartambo in the department of Cusco at 4 hours by car from the city of Cusco with devotion to the “Mamacha Virgin of Carmen” where thousands of believers with a lot of faith attend. You ask for it with great faith, the virgin fulfills it. This patronal feast begins July 14 and ends on the 18th of the same month where there are 18 groups of different dances each with 15 couples where the main day is July 16. Remember that Pope John Paul II crowned the image of the Virgin of Carmen in 1985 on the esplanade of Sacsayhuaman when he arrived in Cusco, during his pilgrimage in Peru.
Among the best-known groups of dancers are mentioned the Maqta’s, the Saqras, the Black Qhapaq, the Qhapaq Qolla, the Chunchachas, Contradanza, Danzaq, the Negrillos, Qoyacha, the Waca Waca, Káchampa, the Bakers, Chujchus, Majenos, the Doctorsitos or Wayra, the Chilean Aucca, and others.
