AUSANGATE TREK AND ITS 7 LAGOONS 7D/6N
AUSANGATE, The 7-day trek allows you to explore all the surroundings of this majestic mountain and feel its strong energy! You observe numerous pure mountainous lagoons and spectacular high Andean landscapes. Also, you see cute South American camelids such as llamas, alpacas, and paqochas as well as various Andean bird species. As a bonus, you enjoy relaxing medicinal waters of 2 thermal baths.

AUSANGATE TREK AND ITS 7 LAGOONS 7D/6N
DAY 01: CUSCO (3,300 M) – OCONGATE (3,533 M) – TINKI (3,950 M) – TOUR AUSANGATE
Our travel starts at 6 am when we pick you up to head for the village of Ocongate. From there, we continue till the Tinki village. On the way, we pass by picturesque villages along a valley observing lovely areas of cultivated land. We have dinner and spend the night at our first campsite in Tinki.

DAY 02: TINKI (3,950 M) – APU AUSANGATE (6,372 M) – UPIS (4,140 M) – TOUR AUSANGATE
After breakfast, we start hiking towards the foothill of the majestic Apu Ausangate (6,372 m). We may appreciate the customs of local inhabitants during the hike. Also, we can admire the presence of South American camelids such as llamas, alpacas, and paqochas. Eventually, we reach Upis (4,140 m) – a small village. Afterward, we head for nearby thermal baths (hot springs) and relax our tired muscles in this medicinal water. We pitch a campsite there and have a warm dinner before we fall asleep.

DAY 03: UPIS (4,140 M) – ARAPA PASS (4,850 M) – PUKAQOCHA LAGOON (4,600 M) – TOUR AUSANGATE
Very early after breakfast, we continue our travel towards the Arapa Pass (4,850 m). From this point, we start descending to the Paucarqocha Lagoons, which individual names are Hatun Pukaqocha (a big red lagoon), Vinaqocha and Huchuy Punaqocha. There, we enjoy not only splendid views of the surrounding natural scenery, but we also appreciate diverse Andean bird species. This day, we camp at the shores of one of the lagoons (4,600 m).

DAY 04: PUKAQOCHA LAGOON (4,600 M) – PALOMANI PASS (5,200 M) – CHILCAPINAYA – TOUR AUSANGATE
Today, we can view deglaciations of Apu Ausangate (Mt Ausangate). Firstly, we ascend Alcatani (4,650 m) to later descend to the lagoon Ausangate Qocha (4,680 m). Subsequently, we begin ascending again, this time to reach the Palomani Pass (5,200 m) – the highest point of the trek. From this point, we are offered impressive views of the local natural beauty. In the end, we descend again to Chilcapinaya (4,200 m) where we camp tonight.

DAY 05: CHILCAPINAYA (4,200 M) – JAMPA VALLEY (4,600 M) – QOMERQOCHA LAGOON – TOUR AUSANGATE
After breakfast, we trek through the Jampa Valley where we can appreciate local Andean villagers wearing traditional costumes typical for this region. Moreover, we have an opportunity to admire numerous herds of cute alpacas, lamas, paqochas, and sheep. Later on, we get over the last pass of the trek – Jampa (4,650 m), and from there, we may observe the marvelous lagoon Ticllacocha and the steppe of Pachaspata. Finally, we pitch a campsite at the shores of the turquoise Qomercocha Lagoon (4,140 m).

DAY 06: QOMERQOCHA LAGOON (4,140 M) – PACCHANTA (4,200 M) – TOUR AUSANGATE
This day, we descend after breakfast through spectacular high Andean landscapes to the village of Pacchanta (4,200 m). Upon arrival, we relax in the nearby thermal baths (hot springs), from where we are given lovely views of the imposing Apu Ausangate. After the bath, we are served dinner. We overnight at a campsite at the foothill of Ausangate.

DAY 07: PACCHANTA (4,200 M) – TINKI (3,950 M) – CUSCO (3,300 M)- TOUR AUSANGATE
At 6:30 am, we are served breakfast to later start hiking. During the following 4 hours, we descend appreciating small Andean villages and local people wearing colorful traditional costumes. Like this, we can learn more about the culture of this marvelous region. Finally, we arrive at Tinki again so can have lunch. Afterward, we get on our vehicle that brings us back to Cusco. We arrive there at around 5 pm.

DAY 01: CUSCO (3,300 M) – OCONGATE (3,533 M) – TINKI (3,950 M)

DAY 02: TINKI (3,950 M) – APU AUSANGATE (6,372 M) – UPIS (4,140 M)
- Breakfast at the campsite.
- A trek towards the foothill of the majestic Apu Ausangate (6,372 m) admiring llamas, alpacas, and paqochas and observing customs of local inhabitants during the track.
- Arrive at the village of Upis.
- Relax at the local thermal baths.
- Pitching a campsite.
- Dinner and overnight.
DAY 03: UPIS (4,140 M) – ARAPA PASS (4,850 M) – PUKAQOCHA LAGOON (4,600 M)
- A very early breakfast.

DAY 04: PUKAQOCHA LAGOON (4,600 M) – PALOMANI PASS (5,200 M) – CHILCAPINAYA
- Breakfast at the campsite.
- Observation of deglaciations of Mt Ausangate.
- Ascent hike to Alcatani (4,650 m).
- Descent to the lagoon Ausangate Qocha (4,680 m).
- Climbing up to the Palomani Pass (5,200 m).
- Descent to Chilcapinaya (4,200 m).
- Pitching a campsite.
- Dinner and overnight.
DAY 05: CHILCAPINAYA (4,200 M) – JAMPA VALLEY (4,600 M) – QOMERQOCHA LAGOON
- Breakfast at the campsite.

- Descend hike to the village of Pacchanta (4,200 m) passing by spectacular high Andean landscapes.
- Arrival at Pacchanta.
- Relax in the nearby thermal baths while appreciating a view of the imposing Apu Ausangate.
- Camping at the foothill of Ausangate.
- Dinner and overnight.
DAY 07: PACCHANTA (4,200 M) – TINKI (3,950 M) – CUSCO (3,300 M)
- 6:30 am – breakfast.
- 4-hour descent hike appreciating small Andean villages and local people wearing colorful traditional costumes.
- Arrive at the village of Tinki.
- Lunch at Tinki.
- Return transport to Cusco City.
- 5 pm – arrival to the city.
- Drop off at your hotel.
RECOMMENDATIONS
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OUR TOUR AUSANGATE :
- Please note! The trek takes place at an altitude of between 4,850 meters (15,910 ft) and 5,000 meters (16,400 ft) above sea level! For this reason, it is very important that every participant gets acclimatized in Cusco (or, another place with an altitude of over 3,000 m/9,840 ft) for at least 3 days!
- We recommend you to take any medicine against Soroche (high altitude sickness) or/and coca leaves/coca sweets.
- Every participant needs to be in good physical and mental shape to do the trek!
- To maximize a nice experience of the trek, we advise you to practice a small exercise prior this trip.
- If you suffer from any health problem, we recommend you to consult it with your doctor in advance.
- Please keep yourself hydrated during the trip!
- In case of rays, please switch off every electronic device!

- 24-hour availability: It is possible to book the tour at any time of the day.
- Suitable season: All year round without any limit. However, you should know that January is the peak of a rainy season and snow so the weather is very cold. If you like to know about the present season conditions, please inquire us a couple of days in advance.
- Please be careful with the environment (all garbage must be taken back to Cusco)!

- Necessary stuff for a 7-day trek (We recommend a backpack of up to 7 kg of your belongings some of which might be carried by an extra horse.);
- Personal identification document (ID/Passport);

- A backpack of up to 40 litres;
- Warm cloths such as a jacket, sweaters, long trousers, gloves;

- Raincoat or poncho (especially, from November to April);
