THE FIRST VISIT IN THE SOUTHERN VALLEY  INCA IS TIPON

Tipón is an archaeological group that is located about 10 km. from the city of Cusco, you can also appreciate an exceptional hydraulic system. In fact, it was an important agricultural production center. For this reason, the terraces found there are impressive, they contain 12 terraces of fairly fertile land and are still cultivated, their retaining walls are made of very well carved stones.

However, in Tipón, terraces, platforms, stone rooms, adobe, and majestically worked water pipes were built.
Tipón is considered as the ‘Wonder of Hydraulic Engineering”.
Rather, the attractions that stand out are the Intihuatana, the wall that protected the enclosure, the Cruzmoqo viewpoint, and its royal enclosures.

THE SECOND VISIT IS ANDAHUAYLILLAS

It is located 40 km southeast of the city of Cusco, is a very cozy town, with a warm climate, it is surrounded by mountains and on the bank of the Vilcanota river that is called Urubamba below, its lands have privileged fertility. In its extensive main square is its most valuable jewel, the colonial Church of Andahuaylillas, considered the Sistine Chapel of America, due to the quality of the artworks found inside.

The Andahuaylillas church houses a collection of paintings from the Cusqueña School, which represents the life of Saint Peter, as well as a majestic organ, silver jewelry, and a baroque altar. Moreover, in the interior, there are environments where there are remains of some Inca construction. Additionally, on the western side of the front yard, there are three large sculpted crosses representing the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

THE THIRD VISIT IS ANDAHUAYLILLAS

THE FOURTH VISIT IS RAQCHI. “Giant mud walls”

To the west is the Inca town of Raqchi, archaeological evidence indicates that it was a complex town of multiple constructions, the cultivation terraces served various purposes, the most important building within the complex is the Temple of Wiraqocha, which according to written testimonies of the chroniclers was built by the Inca Wiraqocha in homage to the Superior God who created the universe, Apu Kon Titi Teqsi Wiraqocha.

Raqchi was divided into 5 sectors: First the Temple of Wiracocha, the Greater Inca Temple, the warehouses, the statue, the enclosures and the water sources.
In fact, in Raqchi up to 156 circular plant colcas were found, 8 m in diameter and 4 m high.

OVERVIEW

SOUTHERN INCA VALLEY

We start with the pick up from your hotel at 8 am. First, we will visit the archaeological park of Tipón. In the southern valley Inca tour, you can observe the incredible hydraulic engineering and also the platforms. Later we went to the archaeological park of Pikillaqta which was developed between 600 and 1000 AD. For the Wari culture, then we will have a delicious lunch to your preference we will give options for your choice where and what to eat, then we will visit the Andahuaylillas chapel, in fact, it is dedicated to San Pedro Apóstol, it is better known as the “Sistine Chapel of America”. In addition, the ceiling of the chapel is covered in the Mudejar style, the decoration is also complemented with canvases. Finally, we will visit Raqchi “giant mud walls”. Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco.
