TITICACA LAKE – FLOATING ISLANDS

TITICACA LAKE – FLOATING ISLANDS, you need to have breakfast very early since we pick you up from your hotel at 7 am. Then, you head to the Titicaca Lake’s port placed in Puno when you embark on a motorboat. We sail for 30 minutes until we reach the famous floating islands of Uros made of totora (a kind of reed). We land on one of these 70 (approx.) islands and our Tour Guide shows us around. So, you meet the local friendly people and see the way they live and keep their traditions. You also can buy some of their “totora” handicraft and/or give a try to a totora boat ride (not included in the price).
After that, we board the motorboat again and continue the ride for 2 and a half hours towards Taquile Island. When on the island, we hike for 45 minutes to get to its village. On the way, we can observe its shy inhabitants wearing typical clothes performing their daily activities such as fishing, farming, or weaving. We start our visit with lunch at a local house (although lunch is not included in the tour price, we would like to recommend you to taste a quinoa soup and fresh fish from the Titicaca Lake). Afterward, a 2-hour guide tour follows, during which our Guide explains everything for a better understanding of this rural culture. In addition, you get an opportunity to buy some of their woven handicrafts which are recognized by UNESCO as an intangible heritage.
Later on, we descent back to the port of Taquile (30 minutes) and board the boat taking us to Puno during a 3-hour ride. The Titicaca Lake – Floating Islands tour finishes with your transfer from the Puno’s port back to your hotel.

- Pick-up from your hotel in Puno at 7 am.
- Transfer to the Titicaca Lake’s port at Puno.
- 30-minute boat ride to the floating islands of Uros.

- Continuation of our journey towards Taquile (approx. 2 and a half hours).
